Good afternoon. I recently needed a server in Russia and was faced with choosing and searching for a provider that would provide it. I decided to revisit this issue because I thought the benefits of locating a server within a country with high demand (large-scale blocking) significantly outweigh the acceptable downsides, provided internal security is maintained, of course. However, I would add a disclaimer to such servers: 'DNT' or 'NT' - Do not trust.
Pros: reduced ping, access to internal resources from outside, load sharing with other servers.
We are still against the idea of deploying any infrastructure presence in Russia, especially now after they have introduces new law named Antifraud 2.0.
This means that hosting providers in Russia have to ensure that they don't have foreign VPN services running on their servers (idk how they will enforce that).
