How to setup OpenVPN on AsusWrt

This guide was created by a community member and reviewed by us. Firmware and router interfaces may change over time, so some steps may differ depending on your device or version.

Requirements:

  • Keenetic / Netcraze router with a USB port
  • USB flash drive of at least 256MB

  1. Log in to the router’s admin panel using the default address: 192.168.1.1 or asusrouter.com.
  2. Go to the VPN section and select the VPN Fusion tab.
  3. Generate an OpenVPN configuration file using the configuration generator and select the Linux configuration.
  4. In the Server List, click “Add Profile” or the plus icon (⊕).
  5. Enter any provider name in the “Connection Name” field, for example, “Xeovo”.
  6. In the “VPN Type” drop-down menu, select “OpenVPN”.
  7. Click “Import.ovpn file”, choose the generated OpenVPN configuration file (for example, “xeovo-no-udp.ovpn”),
  8. In the "Username" and "Password" fields below, enter your Xeovo account credentials and click “Apply and Enable” below
  9. The connection will be established automatically. The status will change to “Connected”. If this does not happen, make sure the toggle switch is set to ON.
  10. To verify the connection, visit DoesMyVPN.work.

How to disconnect

To disconnect the VPN, return to step 8 and switch the toggle next to your VPN connection name to OFF.
