Add Other Proxy Protocols (Hysteria 2, NaïveProxy)?

Hello, 👋

I have been enjoying the product, but have been wondering whether the team is considering adding other proxy protocols, such as Hysteria 2 and NaïveProxy.

More choice in protocols means that there is a higher chance of at least one of them working in a certain restrictive environment. Additionally, Hysteria 2 seems "great for gaming, streaming, and large file transfers", making it fast but less detectable than WireGuard and AmneziaWG.

Thank you!

Hi,

We’ve been researching Hysteria 2 for some time and even donated to the project.

Currently, there are no plans to add this protocol in the near future, simply because other protocols are working fine. Once we have done enough research and testing, we might roll it out, but only if some of the existing protocols get blocked.

One important thing to note is that the Great Firewall of China (GFW) began blocking QUIC connections this year. Additionally, Iran entirely blocked QUIC traffic to servers outside the country (as far as I remember, this was a temporary block).

We haven’t researched NaïveProxy much, since the ecosystem is still small and there aren’t many clients available. However, we’ll follow its development and reconsider adding it if it gains more popularity.

I’ve changed the topic status to “Researching” and will update it if we start working on implementing Hysteria.

Hysteria2 Salamander seems to be working in Russia. I'd love to see Hysteria support too.

Update time!

Hysteria 2.0 is currently implemented in our test environment. Everything seems to work fine, but still needs a lot of testing. Once the testing is done we will release it to everyone or have small closed beta testing before.

I am moving this request into "In Progress" stage.

We have now implemented Hysteria 2.0 in open beta. You can test it out by updating your subscription in the client of your choice (as long as it supports Hysteria 2.0). One servers named "NL / Hysteria2 (experimental) should show up in the list.

In case you find any issues or bugs, please send us an email or ticket and we will look into it.

Hysteria2-avx works great on pc using the 1st party client. On Android, I'd only use an experimental sing-box-android version since it's the only stealth proxy client i can trust. It has a specific URI scheme and its impossible to import xeovo configs via QR code for now, but you can convert the advertised config manually.

On a brighter side of things, Mullvad VPN client on Android now has QUIC obfuscation support, which seems to be working even on the historically stricter networks. I'm not sure why RKN doesn't block plain QUIC, but my strategy is to switch between AmneziaWG with xeovo and Mullvad since those are the only leak-proof options i know of.

Thanks. We checked it and we have to tweak subscription for Shadowrocket to make it work. I will update this thread once it's done.

I took a good look at hysteria2 in wireshark on my eth0 device and the throne tunnel. Its impressive and its speed is quite good in comparison to most quic vpn obfuscation implementations. I can't wait until you have a server in CA/US. The fact that you were meticulous in testing it gives me the warm and fuzzies.

I wish NaïveProxy, Trojan and Hysteria2 protocols on my devices to easily switch from situation A, B, C and select which protocol is more resilient to a specific scenario.

We already have Trojan. I only need of the other ones.

I hope dev team bring them in Xeovo family.
